Obituary

Mary Fay Book was born on January 20, 1933, to Henry William and Ida Francis (Parks) Mulherin in Carryville, Arkansas. On June 1, 2021, at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 12 days she entered into her eternal rest. On March 11, 1950, she married the love of her life, Henry Doilous Book. They moved to Flint, Michigan, where God blessed her with five children. In 1963, they moved to Maynard, Arkansas, where she raised her family. Mary worked at Cinch in Pocahontas, Arkansas, to help provide for her family. When not at the factory, she worked raising a garden and in the fields helping her husband. She was no stranger to hard work. She would pick cotton by hand, drive the tractor, or work in the hay field. In 1979, they left the farm and bought a restaurant and gas station in Reyno, Arkansas. She also owned and operated a grocery store. They moved to Greenville, Texas, for a few years then returned to Piggott, Arkansas to take care of her parents. During this time, she also volunteered at the Piggott Nursing Home. She was awarded an award for Volunteer of the Year. One of her projects was to collect donations to make sure all of the residents received a gift at Christmas. Mary had a great love for God and her family. Her children and husband were her everything. No one ever hurt or wronged any of them that they did not feel her wrath. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Henry Doilous Book; her sons, Henry L. Book and Teresa of Redding, California, Randell Book and Kathy of Blue Ridge, Texas; daughters, Judy Templeton and Dennis of Piggott, Arkansas and Regina Sawyer of Puxico, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Theresa Book of Corning, Arkansas; and Virginia Roberts of Piggott, Arkansas, whom she thought of as a sister. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren with one "on-the-way"; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ida Mulherin; her son, Dallas Wayne Book, Sr.; son-in-law, Curt Sawyer; grandson, Randell L. Book, Jr.; and granddaughter, Tiffany Earl. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Mike Book officiating.
