Mary Francis
Byrd
Jun 17, 1935 — Sep 2, 2026
Piggott, Arkansas
Mary Francis Byrd, 91, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away September 2, 2026, at Campbell Nursing Home in Campbell, Missouri.
She was born in Melbourne, Arkansas, and was the daughter of Malcolm Abner Finley and Veda Davidson Finley Wilburn.
Mary was a homemaker and also worked at Duckworth Muse Medical Clinic. She volunteered with the Literacy Council and spent much of her life helping and serving others.
She was baptized at a young age and remained an active church member throughout her life. Music was an important part of her faith and service. She sang in the choir and as a soloist, and she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, Bible School worker, and children’s church helper.
Mary enjoyed baking, canning, tending to her garden, and caring for animals. During her younger married years, Mary was always willing to help her sisters-in-law with school work and chores. As a wife and mother, she devoted herself to her family, raising four children, cooking for workers in the field, caring for the animals around the home, and helping wherever she was needed.
Mary was a true servant in every sense of the word. Whether she was helping with bake sales, church dinners, sweets for auctions, school functions, caring for family, or simply meeting a need when she saw one, she gave of herself willingly. She never complained, and she almost always had a smile on her face. Even through the great sadness she endured during her lifetime, she continued to serve, encourage, and care for others. Her life was marked by quiet faithfulness, kindness, and a willingness to help wherever she was needed.
Mary was married to Hudson Linuel Moore and to this union four children were born. She later married Jackie Wayne Byrd.
She is survived by her children, Glen Hudson Moore and wife Sherry and Janet Leigh MacDonald and husband David; grandchildren, Lauren Welch, Jason Little, Jennifer Little, and Logan Moore; great-grandchildren, Avery, Liam, Jase, Knox, Kennedy, Jaxon, Grant, Aubry, Kali, and Jentri; sister, Betty Howard; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jackie Wayne Byrd; her children, Diana Lynn DeStephano and Curtis Bruce Moore; her brother, David Ray Finley; her stepchildren, Jacklynn Byrd Rice, Phyllis Byrd Phillips, and Carroll Jackson “CJ” Byrd.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Anthony Dowdy officiating.
