Mary Louise Caldwell, 89, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away March 12, 2021, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas.
She was born on December 5, 1931, in Clay County, Arkansas, and was the daughter of Arty and Merle (Woolf) Haley.
Louise was united in marriage to John R Caldwell in August of 1954.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John R Caldwell; son, Ray Haley Caldwell; brothers, Ray Haley, Eric Francis "Dick" Haley, Frank Haley and Leslie Haley.
She was a loving mother and homemaker. She began her career as a savings bookkeeper for the National Bank in Detroit in 1969. In 1986, they embarked on the adventure of retirement together. After John's death in 1988, Louise moved back to Arkansas where she worked at Fred's and eventually at the Hemingway-Pfieffer Museum as a historian and tour guide. She was also an avid participant at the Clay County Fair.
She was a long time member of South Thornton Church of Christ and her faith played an important role in everything she accomplished in life.
Louise was known for her green thumb and bountiful gardens, her apple pie and angel food cake, and as a historian of the local community and people. She was known affectionately to many as Ma. She will be missed enormously by all.
Survivors include her daughters, Merle Ann Caldwell of Piggott, Arkansas and Jane Caldwell of Piggott, Arkansas, sons, Danny W. Caldwell and wife Janet of Columbia, Tennessee and Scott F. Caldwell and wife Colleen of South Lyon, Michigan; 9 grandchildren, Micah Caldwell and wife Michelle, Aaron Caldwell, Christine Caldwell- Smith and husband Teddy, Brianne Caldwell, Shanna Parrish and husband Buddy, Heather Moore and husband Joshua, Sarah Caldwell, Kevin Caldwell and wife Chrissy, Trevor Wallace; 17 great-grandchildren, Kyler Parrish, Gage Parrish, Logan Caldwell, Dean Smith, Samuel Smith, Cain Smith, Nadalee Caldwell, Kendra Caldwell, Gwendolyn Caldwell, Zane Wallace, Zeb Wallace, Zak Wallace, Levi Moore, Lainey Moore, Wesley Carey, Adalyn Carey, Lucas Caldwell; sister-in-law, Lola(Frank) Haley; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; a sister-in-love, Sheila Peterson Young; and many other friends.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 11:00 am at the South Thornton Church of Christ in Piggott, Arkansas with Bro. Jeremy Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Michigan on Saturday with nephew, Mike Haley officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas.
