Obituary

Mary Rosella Book Doyle, born June 18, 1918, near Piggott, Arkansas, to Molly and Rev. Curtis Book. Mary died December 5, 2019, at Swift Creek Care Center of Poplar Bluff. Mary was married to Alfred Doyle on August 23, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by their son, Billy Doyle and wife Kaye; her parents; and her seven sisters and brothers. She is survived by one son, Donald and wife Rosemary; daughters, Sue Hyde of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Pat Suttles and Tom of New Bloomfield, Missouri; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends survive. Her sister, Ota Mae Brendle of Michigan also survives. Mary was a homemaker and chopped and picked many fields of cotton near Fagus, Missouri. She was a clerk at Samples Shoe Store and Cobles Store near Poplar Bluff. She was known in the family for her delicious pies and for quilting and embroidery. She was a devout Christian and the oldest member of Osborn General Baptist Church of Qulin, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday, December 9. 2019, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Mark Book officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
