Obituary

Mary Lynn Hemphill, 78, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away on November 21, 2025, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born October 22, 1947, in Adrian, Michigan, the daughter of the late John Anthony Budwit and Catherine (Bahm) Budwit. Mary married Rick Hemphill, and together they shared more than fifty years filled with love and cherished memories.

Mary had a gift for making everything feel special. Whether it was an ordinary day or a holiday gathering, she added her own touch of creativity, care, and sparkle-often quite literally. She loved her "bling," collecting jewelry that reflected her bright personality and eye for beauty. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and crafting, and her handiwork and thoughtful details brought joy to all who knew her.

Family holidays were where Mary's creativity truly shined. She poured her heart into baking Christmas cookies, decorating her rotating Christmas tree, and building gingerbread houses that became treasured traditions. Her ability to turn celebrations into magical, memory-making moments will be deeply missed.

Mary also enjoyed simple pleasures-playing Bingo, browsing shops, admiring pretty things, and spending time with the people she loved.

She is survived by her husband, Rick Hemphill of Piggott; two sisters, Patricia Danette Bell and husband Durbin of Piggott, Arkansas, and Christine Marie Blevins and husband Daniel of Monroe, Michigan; nieces and nephews Brandi Johnson and husband Ronald of Pollard, Arkansas, Dustin Sexton of Piggott, Arkansas, Marlaina Shotsky and husband Doug of Adrian, Michigan, Katie Rymers of Adrian, Michigan, Stephen Budwit and wife Brianna, and Joshua Budwit and wife Ashley, both of Ada, Ohio; along with many beloved great-nieces, great-great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gary Anthony Budwit and Steven John Budwit, as well as other dear family members who welcomed her home.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place, and the family will gather at a later date to remember Mary's life and the love she so generously shared.
