Obituary

Mary Ellajean (Jean) Scheffler was born near Pollard, Arkansas, September 19, 1933, and passed away March 4, 2024, at the age of 90. She was the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. S.I. Runyon.

She is survived by her grandson, Kilby Scheffler of Paragould, Arkansas; his wife, Kayla and their children, Katherine, River, Diana and David; two sisters, Julia Pittman and Marie Hillyer of Piggott, Arkansas; three sisters-in-law, Lucille Cate and Billie Runyon of Piggott, Arkansas and Stella Runyon of Steeleville, Illinois; five nieces, Becky Stockbridge, Susan Pittman, June Somers Caudill, Kelley Lee and Shelley Warr; two nephews, David and Bob Runyon. Also surviving are several great nephews and nieces.

Preceding her in death along with her parents, were her husband, Ed Junior Scheffler; two sons, Philip Scheffler and John Scheffler; four brothers, Doyne, Edwin, Gerald, and Kenneth Runyon; and three nephews, John and Carl Runyon and Jim Hillyer.

Wherever she went she was apt to hear, "Hi, Mrs. Jean" as she was a teacher's aide for many years at Piggott Elementary School. Prior to that she worked at Dickerson Photography Studio. She was a member of Wright's Chapel Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be graveside at New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Kim Bridges officiating. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, will be in charge of arrangements.
