Mary Kathern Tate born June 9,1937, and was the oldest of three daughters of William Carroll and Virginia (Starr) Rickman.
She married the Love of her life Linuel Ray Tate on October 17,1959. They were married 61 years before Linuel was promoted to Heaven. They had two children Steven Linuel and Alisa Lynn.
She was baptized as a young girl and joined the Hitts Chapel church at the age of 13. Linuel and Kathern were life long members of Hitts Chapel in Piggott and raised their children there.
She worked at the Brown Shoe factory and then the Piggott Nursing home until her health required her to quit 20+ years later.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, working in the yard, playing games and attending ANYTHING the kids and grandkids done. She was Linuel's biggest fan, never missing a parade with him and his little red tractor. They enjoyed over 30 years of growing strawberries. She even took her vacation to work in the strawberries every year. Thanks to Carlos Crittenden they continued to have strawberries these last several years.
She was preceded in death by husband Linuel Tate in November of 2020 and her parents.
Her earthly journey ended on February 12, 2022, leaving behind one son, Steven and wife Robin of Piggott and one daughter, Alisa and husband Tommy of Knobel.
Grandchildren Mike Wiley, Steven Tate Jr., and Bryan Tate; Great granddaughter Mia Katherine Tate; Sisters, Glenda Berry of Eads, Tennessee and Carolyn Ogden-Williams and husband Michael of Malden, Missouri.
Pallbearers are Rodney Ogden, David Thorton, Barry Whaley, Jim Carner, and Carlos Crittenden.
Honorary pallbearers are Vance Whaley, Bud Berry, and Mike Cook
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Bro. Mark Book officiating and Bro. Charles Richardson assisting. Burial will follow in the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
