Obituary

Monty Sanders, 74, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at his home. He was born on May 1, 1950, in Clay County, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Hershel and Lois (Redfarin) Sanders. Monty was united in marriage to Kathy Latimer and to this union three sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Sanders.
Monty worked for Don Roeder for 14 years. Later, he served as a Police Officer for 34 years. During these years he worked for the Clay County Sheriffs Departments, City of Leachville Police Department and City of Piggott Police Department. He was honored to serve as the Leachville Chief of Police for many years. Monty was a longtime member of South Thornton Church of Christ. Monty is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathy Sanders; three sons, Brian (Christy) Sanders of Greenway, Arkansas, Brent Sanders (Harmony Lee) of Piggott, Arkansas, and Bradlee Sanders of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren: Austin and Caleb Sanders, Halli, Chase, and Josi Sanders, Gavin and Gabbee Sanders; one great-grandchild, Ally-Mae Sanders; one brother, Tony (Mary) Sanders of Rector, Arkansas; twos sisters, Betty Drope of Michigan and Judy Williams of Rector, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Kason Lawrence officiating and Bro. Kevin Murray assisting. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Brent Sanders, Chase Sanders, James Latimer, Michael Gurley, Jackie Hill, Bradley Scheffler, and Sam Snyder. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Roeder, Sam Williams, Nathan Sanders, Bill Aldstat, and Mike Cook. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
