Neva Carlene Coomer, 102, of Fredericktown, Missouri, passed away March 27, 2023, at Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Home in Fredericktown, Missouri.
She was born on July 27, 1920, in Rector, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Arnett and Alice (Church) Chapman.
Neva was united in marriage to Sylvas "Arlan" Coomer on May 6, 1939, and to this union a daughter and a son were born..
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Arlan Coomer; her parents; her son, Harold Dewayne Coomer; her siblings: Robert Chapman, Huey Chapman, Eddie Chapman, Billy Chapman, Reba Dowdy, Veda Mills, Eva Lack (Neva's twin), Betty Sullivan, and Jean Sherrell.
During her life, Neva was a member of Call's Chapel Church and later Piggott Baptist Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends, and serving others with the Ladies' Aid. She worked many years at Holcomb's Pharmacy in Piggott, Arkansas. She enjoyed quilting, reading, bowling, working jigsaw puzzels, but most of all she enjoyed traveling. Neva moved to Fredericktown, Missouri, in 2005 to be near her family. She was a simple person, who led a simple, long, and happy life.
Neva is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Alion) Graddy of Fredericktown, Missouri; four grandchildren: Steven (Diana) Graddy, Velina Cloninger, Janssen (Tammy) Coomer, and Shannon (Lynn) Coomer; 10 great-grandchildren: Adam, Zack, Bryan, Tim, Kevin, Brianna, Logan, Alec, Ashleigh, and Aidan; and 10 great-great grandchildren: Ella, Neva, Lily, Lola, Bo, Jacob, Henry, Noah, Andee, and Asher; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Arkansas, with Jerry Morgan officiating. Burial is in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Arkansas. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home.
