Peggy Lucille Johnson, 89, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away April 9, 2021, at Campbell General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Missouri. She was born on November 9, 1931, in Caruthersville, Missouri, and was the daughter of Wilson and Velma (Adams) Fox. Peggy was united in marriage to Billy Gene Johnson on August 26, 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband, USAF, M. Sgt. Billy Gene Johnson; daughter, Judith Lynn Abbey; father, Wilson Fox; mother, Velma Lucille Fox; brothers, Ronald Fox and G.W. Fox; and sister, Shirley Ann Fox. Peggy was a member of First Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas. She was also a member of the Gold Star Wives of America and Clean Fun Club. She enjoyed writing, reading and line dancing. Peggy was employed for over 10 years at Blytheville Courier News as staff writer and columnist. Then she was feature writer and columnist for over 30 years at The Piggott Times and Clay County Democrat, now Clay County - Time Democrat. Her column was titled FROM THESE HILLS. Survivors include her son, Robert Earl Johnson of Piggott, Arkansas; grandchildren, Christopher Abbey of Brookland, Arkansas, Lithe Gaudreau of Deltona, Florida; great-granddaughter, Fiona Rain Abbey; sisters-in-law, Betty Fox and Patsy Fox both of Caruthersville, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 12, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Charles Richardson officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Monday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Research Hospital.
