Obituary

Randy Don Benson, 72, of Holcomb, Missouri, passed away May 9, 2021, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was born on May 27, 1948, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Enos and Minnie Lea (Jennings) Benson. Randy had a brother who had Cerebral Palsy that passed at a young age. Randy loved his brother very much. He was very protective of him. Randy was united in marriage to Regina Elliott on June 30, 1995. Later in marriage his wife became very sick and he became her caregiver. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2006. On November 2, 2007, he was united in marriage to Karen Martin. Randy was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force. Randy loved horses. His father put him on a horse when he was just two days old. His dad would take him riding everyday. When Randy was old enough he had his own horse. He learned how to break horses and in later years he showed horses for many people. Along the way he learned barrel racing. He was good at it and won many buckles. He accomplished that, then went roping.  He loved the sport and unfortunately had to give it up. Now Randy can still have his passion in Heaven.  He will certainly have a good time there. Survivors include his wife, Karen Benson of Holcomb, Missouri; children, Shannon Smart and Farrah Makel Berry of Corning, Arkansas, Terry Smart and Brandy of Marmaduke, Arkansas, Jennifer Ward and Michael of Boydsville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Joslin, Micaela, Tanner, Taylor, Ericka, Aaren, Alexis, and Jagger; sisters-in-law, Debrah Parker and Vicky Owens; brother-in-law James (Jimmy) Owens; and many other relatives and friends. The family will hold a memorial service Friday, May 14, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Kevin Murray officiating. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, was in charge of the cremation arrangements.
