Obituary

Richard Spalding, 93, of Piggott, Arkansas, formerly of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away September 11, 2024, at Campbell Healthcare and Senior Living in Campbell, Missouri.

He was born on November 27, 1930, in Phoenix, Arizona, and was the son of the late Richard Granville Spalding and Ida Ficklin.

Richard joined the Air Force while serving during the Korean War. He worked as an Aircraft Mechanic stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona, where he became an expert troubleshooter, and he was quick to tell everyone his abilities came from God. Many enjoyed hearing him playing gospel music on his violin and fiddle. All who knew Richard knew he loved the Lord more than anything.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Young, and half-brother, Bill Fedrick.

Richard is survived by his two sons, Tim Spalding and wife Connie and Troy Spalding; grandchildren, Austin, Haley, Robert, and Christian; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Elijah, and Emily; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Harvest of Faith Tabernacle in Piggott, Arkansas, with Terrell Fowler officiating. Burial is in Williams Cemetery near Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Elliott Fowler, Andreis Martin, Austin Spalding, Landon Shipman, Robert Spalding, and Ben Garcia, with Sonny Haley serving as honorary pallbearer. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
