Rodney Land Trantham, 70, of Batesville, Arkansas, passed away December 14, 2019, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas.
He was born on March 2, 1949, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, and was the son of Hugh and Juanita (Land) Trantham.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Wes Trantham and his mother, Juanita Madge Land Trantham.
Rodney graduated from Piggott High School in 1967. He attended Arkansas State University for a year before joining the United States Army. He served in Vietnam in the 1st Calvary Division Airmobile and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. Rodney enjoyed writing letters to his family and friends.
Survivors include his sisters, Terry Parker of Blytheville, Arkansas, Susan Gibson of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Kathy Parker of Batesville, Arkansas; brother, David Trantham of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; nieces, Rebekah Harmon, Ashley Pollard, and Deborah Worthington; great nieces and nephews, Holden Tarno, Sydney Tarno, Taylor Stokes, Zachary Stokes, Brandon Wellman, Haley Harmon, and Lindsay Harmon; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitaton will be held Friday, December 20, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Home with a graveside following at 1:30 p.m. at Piggott Cemetery with Keith Hearnsberger officiating. Pallbearers will be Holden Tarno, Zachary Stokes, Charles Williams, Bert Lewis, Jeff Pollard, Frank Staples, and Tim Walker. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
