Ruby Bratcher McComb, 87, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away January 9, 2019, at her home in Piggott, Arkansas. She was born on August 5, 1931, in Greenway, Arkansas, and was the daughter of Lonnie and Geneva (Davis) Petty. Ruby was united in marriage to Glen Preston McComb on January 15, 1949, and to this union two sons were born. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1978. She was united in marriage to Paul R. Bratcher on November 26, 1979, and he preceded her in death on September 21, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Petty, mother, Geneva Petty, brothers, Charles Petty, Vernie Petty, and Melvin Petty; sisters, Imogene Simpson and Normadene Lankford. Ruby worked for the local home health office and the hospital, working as an Nurses Aide and EMT for many years. She loved to bake and cook. She was a member of the South Thornton Church of Christ and attended the First United Methodist Church of Piggott, Arkansas, with her family. She loved to play cards with her girlfriends and also go on trips with them. She loved her dog Belle and had a great love for animals. She loved her childhood friend, Dorothy Humphries, whom she often said was like a sister to her. They got to spend the last 3 weeks together. She loved her grandchildren dearly. They were the joy of her life. A special thank you for Pam Parrent for being a special friend to her. She was very precious to her family and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her son, Dr. Randy McComb and wife Cindy of Piggott, Arkansas, son, Ricky McComb of Piggott, Arkansas; grandchildren, Bridget (Greg) Jennings of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Emily Lemmons of Piggott, Arkansas, Olivia McComb of Memphis, Tennessee, Grayson McComb of Memphis, Tennessee, Anna (Chris) Kennedy of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Sara (Trip) Cathey of Leland, Mississippi; great-grandchildren: Hayden and Nate Lemmons of Piggott, Arkansas, and Prestyn Jennings of Jonesboro, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Ted McComb of Piggott, Arkansas; and her dog, Belle; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Piggott in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. John Hiegel officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Grayson McComb, Ryan Parrent, Chris Kennedy, Trip Hale, Ted McComb, Mike Parham, Nate Lemmons, Hayden Lemmons, and Greg Jennings. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Cowgur, Brent Coomer, Tommy Peeler, and Daniel Vaughn. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Saturday from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm the First United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas. Memorials can be made the Children's Home in Paragould, Arkansas, Piggott Public Library, or the First United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas.
