Ruth Ellen Tanner, 91, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away August 8, 2020, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on July 16, 1929, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the daughter of Louie and Lela (Allman) Thompson. Ruth was united in marriage to Tim Junior Tanner on January 25, 1948, and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jerry William Tanner; infant daughter; father, Louie Thompson; mother, Lela Thompson; and brother, Billy Thompson. Ruth was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.and retired from the Piggott Public Library after serving the community for 20 years. Survivors include her sons, Jackie Lynn Tanner and wife Connie of Piggott, Arkansas, and Jeffrey Neal Tanner of Piggott, Arkansas; daughters, Sandy Toombs of Burleson, Texas, and Latraca Moore of Piggott, Arkansas; grandchildren, Chad Donner and wife Kimberly of Piggott, Arkansas, Melanie Stillings and husband Troy of Burleson, Texas, Chase Tanner of Benbrook, Texas, Bradley Lynn Tanner of Rutherford, Tennessee, Justin Tanner of Bradford, Tennessee, Tori Tanner of Piggott, Arkansas, Joshua Tanner of Piggott, Arkansas, and Brooke Moore of Conway, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Sophie, Ian, Luke, Madalyne, Audry, Sophia, Max, Slade, Vivian, Blakley, and Camden; brother, Ed Thompson of Piggott, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas, with Kenny Burns officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Chad Donner, Chase Tanner, Bradley Lynn Tanner, Justin Tanner, Joshua Tanner, and Gregg Moore. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
