Thelma Marie Chadwell (nee Roark), born on June 7, 1931, danced her way into Heaven on Saturday, August 19, 2023, and was reunited, in what was no doubt an epic party, with her parents, Oscar "Dock" and Ruth Roark (nee Felts), three brothers Carl Lee, Charles, and Paul "Sonny" Roark, and sister Faye Plummer.

Marie was renowned for her pie-making abilities and was happiest in the kitchen cooking for those she loved. She was the proud owner of the Barn Restaurant for many years and loved serving the Piggott community. Those who were close to her knew she always had a smile on her face and a real zest for life that made her the life of any party.

Her proudest accomplishments were her four children with former husband Raymond Chisolm. Marie loved her children and grandchildren something fierce and is survived by what she believed were four of the greatest humans alive: Gary Chisolm (Tobi Kleine), Danny Chisolm (Debbie), Mark Chisolm, and Debbie Lack (David). She also had 15 grandchildren and too many great-grandchildren to count. Marie is also survived by her three sisters and life-long best friends: Doris Jean Cook, Wanda Lee Rice, and Janice Sue Hampton.

Marie was married to Tom Slaton, and they enjoyed many happy years together; Marie was especially close to the Slaton family, and they remained her dear friends over the years. Later in life, Marie reconnected with her high school sweetheart and first kiss, Dale Chadwell. Although their union was short, they had many fond times together that Marie treasured.

She will be missed by many, but always remember—she loves you a bushel and a peck, and no matter what---she still dances!

Services will be held at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home, with visitation on Wednesday, August 23, at 6 p.m. and the funeral on Thursday, August 24, at 11 a.m.
