Theron Buckley Watson, 94, of Conway, Arkansas, formerly of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away March 28, 2025.
He was born on February 9, 1931, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Theron and Pearl Reeves Watson. His father died at a young age and he was raised by his stepfather, Jack Rutledge.
He was united in marriage to Betty Jean Watson for 54 years before she preceded him in death on November 2, 2011. Buckley retired from the Air Force as Tech Sergeant. He played a large part in bringing Darling Store Fixtures to Piggott, where he worked as head of maintenance for 18 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially loved camping with his family.
Buckley is survived by his daughters, Linda Watson Payne and husband Ricky of Conway, Arkansas, and Marybeth Davis of Noble, Oklahoma; stepsons, Dennis Merath and wife Ruth of Reed Springs, Missouri, and Edward Merath of Berryville, Arkansas; grandchildren: Garrett, Jessica, Kenny, Ryan, Cody, Sadie Mae, Austin, Mariah, Michelle, and Tracy; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held Friday, April 4, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Chapel. A private burial will be held at Piggott Cemetery with Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
