Obituary

Thomas Andrew Janes III, born June 21, 1934, passed away September 9, 2019 in Spring Hill, Florida. Tommy was born in Bald Knob, Arkansas to Thomas Andrew Janes II and Rose Beatrice Cox Janes, with family ties to both Rector and Piggott, Arkansas. Tommy grew up in Piggott with five siblings, a love of sports and an inquisitive mind. Upon graduation from Piggott High, he joined the US Navy and began his worldly travels. Studying electrical engineering, with a University of Missouri bachelor's degree and a Masters from Rutgers, he put his brilliant mind to work on the "Race for Space" and the search for oil and gas. Tom worked in Melbourne and Tampa, Florida in the fields of satellites and communications. His love of flight was shared with his children through balsawood airplane challenges. In Houston, Texas he worked in oil and gas exploration. His problem solving mind soared above the clouds and drilled to the center of the earth. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Anna Claire Campbell, and brothers Bruce and Robert. Tom is survived by wife Elena Pavlovna Janes, daughters Debra Janes Sappington and Donna Janes, step-son Vladislav Yevgeny Dulgarov and family, brother Donald Janes, sister Rosemary Janes and numerous nephews and nieces, as well as his beloved four-legged sons, Jake and Terry. The family plans a private scattering of the ashes in memorial of Tom. He would want everyone to celebrate family, friends and life. Tom experienced a long and memorable adventure here on earth and soars with the angels for evermore.
