Vonna Jean Woods Swim, 98, of Corning, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021, surrounded by her family at home. She was born on March 16, 1923, in Rector, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Simon Peter and Pearl (Parks) Woods. Vonna was united in marriage to Keith Dwight Swim on October 22, 1944, and to this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Keith Dwight Swim; brother, Dewey Etheridge Woods; and sister, Mary Francis James. Vonna was a longtime educator. She taught high school Business classes for students who will remember her passion for teaching. She also was gifted at embroidery and quilting and enjoyed many hours making beautiful pieces for family and friends. However, it was Vonna's family who always came first in her life and she devoted her life to her family. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Suzanne Swim Lane of O'Fallon, Missouri; son, Keith Dwight Swim, Jr. and wife Brenda of College Station, Texas; granddaughters, Jennifer Wood and husband Jason, Ashley Brunjes and husband Daniel, Kadee Boerger, Ashley Dutton and husband Jonathan, Sarah Conner and husband Jon, Michaela McCoslin and husband James; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, John James and wife Sharon of Piggott, Arkansas, Nancy Shanklin of Piggott, Arkansas, Terri Swim of San Antonio, Texas, Diane Cowley and husband Paul of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Michael Swim and wife Laura of Garland, Texas; and many other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Jamie Taylor, Jannie Warbritton and several previous caregivers for their devoted support and loving care of Mrs. Swim. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Arkansas. Burial will be in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Jason Wood, Dan Brunjes, Jonathan Dutton, Jon Conner, James McCoslin, Cameron Wood and Jaiden Wood. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
