William "Gavin" Grissom was born on January 9, 1967, in Piggott, Arkansas, and passed away on June 26, 2026, at the age of 59 at his home in Caruthers, California. He was the son of Diane Parrish and his stepfather, Eldon Parrish.

Gavin accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 10 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in McDougal, Arkansas. He later joined Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas.

Gavin graduated from Piggott High School in 1985. He attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville for one and a half years. He then pursued other interests while remaining in Fayetteville until moving to California in 2018, where he met his soulmate, Brenda Swem, who preceded him in death in 2024. Gavin loved target shooting and was a member of a dart league in Fayetteville. While living in California, he also learned to enjoy pitching horseshoes with his friends, who were also his coworkers.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather; three siblings, Randy Parrish of Satanta, Kansas, Leslie Parrish of McDougal, Arkansas, and Leah Kilbreath of Reno, Arkansas; along with many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
