Gerald Wayne Hoggard (In Memory)

Founder / Licensed Funeral Director / Embalmer

Gerald has been serving families in their time of need for over 58 years. He graduated from Childress High School in 1950, and six years later, he was pleased to receive his degree from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science.

He was a member of the Piggott Masonic Lodge #545 and Member of the Order of the Eastern Star - New Piggott Chapter #625. He was also a member of the American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, and the Arkansas Scottish Rite Masons - Valley of Jonesboro.

Gerald’s professional memberships included the Arkansas Funeral Directors Association, as well as the NFDA, the National Association of Funeral Directors.

He was married to Shirley Sue (Wayland) Hoggard. Together, they raised two sons, Paul Wayne Hoggard and Sherrell Wayland Hoggard. And they’re the proud grandparents of four grandchildren: Kristin Johnson, Michael Hoggard, Stephanie Hoggard Lowe, and Kalyn Hoggard; and nine great-grandchildren: Mason Daniel Lowe, Matalyn Ashlee Johnson, Caden James Hoggard, Paul Brooks Johnson, Mia Gracelyn Lowe, Sloane Catherine Hoggard, Lorien Johnson, Fynn Johnson, and Finley Elise Lowe.

Gerald passed away in September 2013. We continue the tradition he started many years ago of serving our community with the foundation that he has laid.

Shirley Sue Hoggard

Licensed Funeral Director / Co-Founder

Shirley has worked in funeral service beside her husband, Gerald, for the past 40 years. Not only did they work together side-by-side, but they raised their sons together, Paul and Sherrell. She is a graduate of Paragould High School and attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.

Sue graduated from Paragould High School after her parents moved from the Red Onion Community where she had been raised. She owned and operated Sue's Flower and Gifts in Piggott, Arkansas, for many years before retiring from the flower business in 2000. She is a proud member of the Eastern Star – New Piggott Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, #625.

Sue is also proud of her four grandchildren and their spouse, Kristin and Mark, Michael and Ashley, Stephanie and Jerrod and Kalyn and Mick. But she is most proud of her 9 great-grandchildren: Mason, Mattie, Caden, Mia, Brooks, Sloane, Lorien, Fynn, and Finley.

Known around the community as "Miss. Sue", among old acquaintances as Shirley, and among her family as Grand Sue, she is an asset to our funeral home staff.

Stephanie Sheryl Hoggard Lowe

Licensed Funeral Director

Stephanie has worked alongside her family at the funeral home since 2005. She received her funeral director's license in 2008.

Stephanie is a graduate of Piggott High School, Class of 2004, and a graduate of the Three Rivers Community College (TRCC) in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. Stephanie later graduated from Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a major in Business Management.

In 2005, Stephanie married Jerrod D. Lowe and together they have a son, Mason and two daughters, Mia and Finley. Stephanie and her family are members of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas.

She is the daughter of late Sherrell Wayland Hoggard and Pamela (Rigdon) Hoggard.

Jerrod Daniel Lowe

Licensed Embalmer / Funeral Director / Certified Crematory Operator

Jerrod began working full time at the funeral home in 2014, after working 10 years at Ozark Border Electric Cooperative as a journeyman lineman. Jerrod grew up in Piggott, Arkansas, until he was 8 years old. His family moved to Doniphan, where he later graduated from Doniphan High School in 2002. After high school, Jerrod went on to graduated from Linn Technical College in Linn, Missouri. with a degree in Electrical Distrubution.

He is the husband of Stephanie Lowe and the father of Mason Daniel Lowe, Mia Gracelyn Lowe, and Finley Elise Lowe. He is the son of Eddie and Latraca Lowe of Doniphan, Missouri, grandson of Woodrow and Vonna Jean Lowe of Piggott, Arkansas, Jerry and Jane Webster, and Deanna and Raymond Dismukes of Pollard, Arkansas. Jerrod's sister, Chelsea Cote and her husband Paden live in Doniphan, Missouri, along with their son, Emmett and daughter, Aniston.

In 2015, Jerrod graduated from Des Moines Area Community College with a degree in Mortuary Science. After serving an apprenticeship under Paul Hoggard and completing his National Board Exam, he became a licensed Embalmer in 2017.
Jerrod is also pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas.

Shonne Mick

Licensed Funeral Director / Certified Crematory Operator

Shonne has been working for Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home since 2010 and is a vital part of Hoggard & Sons. He and is currently a licensed Funeral Director and a Certified Crematory Operator for Hoggard & Son's crematory - Serenity Ridge Crematory.

Matthew Vancil

Apprentice Funeral Director / Certified Crematory Operator

Matthew joins our staff after working for many years at CenturyLink. Matthew graduated from Piggott High School. He along with his wife, Carla, and three children, Erica, Carlie, and Will live in the Piggott community and attend Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He is currently serving his Apprenticeship for funeral directing under the staff of Hoggard & Sons. He is also a Certified Crematory Operator and Manager for Hoggard & Son's crematory - Serenity Ridge Crematory.
